tom curiano is a drummer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer


Veteran New York drummer and producer Tom Curiano has a long and impressive track record.

He is a drummer and percussionist of vast scope, sensitivity, power, and creativity.

As a drummer, Tom has worked with some of the most respected artists and players in New York and throughout The USA and Europe, and has logged extensive touring miles around the globe over the years. He has played on over 40 records, both major and indie releases.

Recent credits include The Longshadows‘ debut record which features Robin Wilson of the Gin Blossoms and Steve French formerly of Starclub. Tom is also drumming on the new Nell Bryden record, What Does It Take, which was produced by legendary L.A. producer David Kershenbaum (Duran Duran, Joe Jackson, Tracy Chapman, Cat Stevens, Supertramp, Tori Amos). A single from that record, “Not Like Loving You,” is currently climbing the BBC radio 2 charts.

Tom is also a producer and multi instrumentalist. His records have gotten consistent rave reviews. He has a song-centric and melodic approach that really shines on his productions, giving his records a catchy, hummable quality as well as lushness and depth. On most of them you’ll hear Tom playing drums, guitars, bass, keyboards, and singing harmony vocals Recent production credits include; David John Hull, Who Really Knows; Sam Barron, The Only Constant; and J.D. Duvall, Bathe In The Light.

Tom is also collaborating with Jon Anderson, the singer from the legendary progressive rock band YES. Tom has co-written, produced, and arranged over ten tracks with Jon thus far, and more work lies ahead in 2010!

Tom is currently working with Italian jazz guitarist Claudio Farinone. Plans are in the works for an acoustic trio release later this year which will feature Tom on all manner of percussion instruments. He’s also scheduled to tour Spain in April 2010 with David Hull as an acoustic duo, providing percussive backing and harmonies.

Some of the other artists Tom has worked with over the years include: Julian Coryell, Jeff Krantz, Marzuki (featuring Sufjan Stevens), Robbie Dupree, Clinton Curtis, Popa Chubby, Peter Noone (of Herman’s Hermits), Phil Roy, The Itinerants, November Project, Rob Curto, and Marc Farre, among many others.

Tom also composes music for TV and film, plays drums in theatre productions, and does sound design and film editing in collaboration with his wife, Swiss visual artist Katia Bassanini.
